dated/1997 was not the first video that Caroline Cooper produced to find its way onto the Web. During pre-production for this piece, we were looking at other examples of video clips on the WarpNet Web site, where you can find the video for Jimi Tenor's "Outta Space" that Caroline made with her previous company Hi Baby!.

In 1997 shooting for the Web meant living with the fact that your work would suffer degradation in image size, image quality, sound, frame rate and synchronisation before it got to its audience. The video clip explores the impact of these "disciplines" on different kinds of video images. Caroline describes the problems of production, and also the possible distribution opportunities that the Net brings for independent producers.
