The Workstation

Sheffield

Following the major refurbishment of a former Garage building Sheffield launched Britain's largest media and cultural business centre in 1993, with the opening of the Workstation. Since then the Workstation has attracted over 50 different companies. The Workstation is actively involved in the development of the city's Cultural Industries Quarter, for example it's active involvement in the Cultural Industries Quarter Development Trust.

The Workstation offers an unrivalled quality and range of facilities and over 5,000 square meters of Managed Workspace to businesses and organisations who operate in the fields of cultural and media enterprise (for full details see the Tenants Directory). This sector encompassing film and video, sound, radio, photography, design and publishing, and all the activities that support this production such as marketing, equipment supply, facilities hire, training, business support, and the area of expansion - computer systems and multi-media services.

The "ethos" at the Workstation is mainly about community - building a lively, creative business environment where cultural organisations can interact and support each other. Central facilities and the ongoing development of the complex aim to support and sustain this community. The Workstation houses high quality Conference and Exhibition spaces and the whole scheme is supported by the Workstation Children's Centre, a workplace nursery and crèche with a playground on the roof.
